A: As per the OHS Act, no person may perform any work/maintenance on an LPG gas installation, nor perform an installation if they are not duly trained and certified with the LPG Association of South Africa and have obtained a license number from SAQCC Gas.
Q: Why do I need a certificate of compliance?
A: An LPG COC is required for insurance purposes, as well as when there is a change of ownership upon the sale of a house/flat. Upon the issuing of an LPG Certificate of Conformity, the installer inspects the current installation, and certifies it to be in a safe and working state. The installer guarantees that no injuries will arise from the installation.
Q: Gas Bottles inside or outside?
A:
Indoors: 1x 9kg or 19kg cylinder is allowed within a RESIDENTIAL dwelling
Indoors: 1x 9kg cylinder is allowed within a Flat.
Outdoors: Maximum of 100kg of LPG stored in the appropriate cylinders are allowed on a residential dwelling, unless special clearance has been granted by a fire Marshall
Does your fee guarantee a signed off COC?
No. Our fee is strictly for an inspection only to establish whether your installation complies with the relevant SANS standards. If it is compliant, we will sign off for an additional R250.
